How’s your hearing? How to test it yourself...

When is the last time you had your hearing checked?

Our generation is experiencing hearing loss at a much younger age than our parents and grandparents. If you find yourself turning up the TV or asking people to repeat themselves, you could have a problem. While it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor about your hearing – there are some self-tests available on line, for free, that can help you gauge your hearing ability.

HearTheWorld.com has a good comprehensive test you can take on your computer, just be sure to hit the “English” tab at the top. The test is under the "Hearing and Hearing Loss" tab.  BelToneHearingTest.com is another option. Both of these online tests are customized to your gender and age. You’ll be asked to identify words while background noise gradually increases.
