Who would you thank if you won an Oscar? The tally is in and the winner is...

Thank YOU Meryl Streep!

When it comes to thank yous at recent Academy Awards, Meryl Streep has gotten the nod more than any other individual over the past 12 years. The runners up to Meryl, in order, were God, Sidney Poitier and Oprah Winfrey.

Also high on the thank you list are directors, agents, producers, co-stars and the Academy itself – followed by spouses, children and writers. Female winners tend to thank more people than the men. Olivia de Havilland thanked a record 27 people in her 1947 acceptance speech and the longest acceptance award goes to Greer Garson who spoke for five minutes and 30 seconds after accepting the award for Best Actress for her role in Mrs. Miniver in 1942.
