You’ve been offered a job you don’t love. Should you take it? Professional advice, coming up…

While it may be hard to turn down a job be careful about accepting one you don’t love.

Glassdoor has a list of questions to ask yourself before you say yes to the offer:

  • ·        Will you be sacrificing goals?  If it keeps you moving forward professionally, consider accepting.

  • ·        Is there an opportunity to expand? Even if you don’t love the job, a position that enhances your job skills and experience can be a good asset.

  • ·        Does the offer meet most of your needs?  Make a list of lifestyle and career aspirations and weigh them accordingly.  A bad vacation package isn’t as important as good medical benefits or promotion opportunities.

  • ·        Can you picture yourself working there?  If you can, that’s a good sign.  If you think you’ll be miserable, keep looking.

  • ·        Could this job be a stepping stone?  If you think it will help you shape your career path, go for it.  If not, reconsider.  Avoid taking a job that doesn’t suit your career goals or values.
