What’s the first thing you see when you walk into your home? Making an entrance...

Regardless of which door you use most, entering your home should be a pleasure...
Design expert Susan Tucker says it’s easy to overlook that space right inside the door - but little touches can go a long way at setting a welcoming tone. Here are her tips on making an entrance:

* Find your focus. It can establish the flow of the house. Try incorporating patterns, artwork or mirrors there which invite you in.

* Set the tone. Think of your entryway as a movie trailer. You’ll want it to hint at your personality without giving it all away.

* Go light and bright. Warm, natural creams and straw colors are nice. If there is room, it’s a great spot for a unique piece of furniture, plant or a strong work of art.

Changing the look of your entrance can be an affordable way to freshen things up and help you, your family members and guests feel good about coming in.
