P.U. It’s prime season for smelling skunk...

That’s because skunks give birth in early spring and those skunk mommies are prepared to protect their little stinkers. They love to build their nurseries under porches, sheds and in crawl spaces under the house. If you’ve got a pet door, don’t leave food near that opening - they consider that a welcomed invitation. The good news is, skunks don’t stay in one place for too long. Once those babies can start to fend for themselves, the whole family will move on.

Skunks are typically very shy and would rather not spray you. It can take up to a week to replenish those all-important defensive oils. They’ll even give you some warning before they unleash their fury. If you see a skunk make a U shape with it’s body and stomp it’s little feet, run for your life. The average smelly shooting range is 20 feet, with impressive accuracy in the 10 foot range.
