Do you ever get a headache or runny nose while you’re shopping? Why that happens...

If shopping gives you a headache, it could be the merchandise...

It’s not unusual for shoppers to experience some distinct symptoms such as fatigue, headache or a runny nose soon after they enter a department store. That’s not an allergy to shopping, it’s a reaction to chemically treated merchandise.

Permanent press and “no-iron” items are often treated with formaldehyde - and department stores are full of those. Exposure to formaldehyde through the air or skin can have a strong effect on some people and wind up leaving them feeling overwhelmingly tired, congested or looking for the nearest public restroom.
