Should you avoid filling your gas tank on a hot summer day?

You may have heard that it’s a good idea to fill your gas tank early in the morning or at night as opposed to in the heat of midday... 

The theory behind that is that the gasoline is cooler and denser in the morning – and you’ll get more for your money.

According to Consumer Reports, that theory has been put to the test and is not worth inconveniencing yourself. Most stations store the gasoline underground and the temperature change at different times of the day is very little or none.
