Flip-flops are great - on the beach, around the pool or to the shower...
As tempting as it is, we should really avoid wearing flip-flops all over the place. Flip-flops offer almost no real protection or support for your feet – and can actually do some damage. Wearing flip-flops or flimsy flats puts extra stress or your Achilles tendon and can even lead to tendonitis. They can also leave you with more calluses, heel fissures and cracking from all that pounding on the back of your foot.
When we’re walking in flip flops, we tend to grip with our toes, which alters our gate and can lead to foot cramping, hip and back pain. Flip flops are also BAD to drive in. You won’t be arrested for it – but the Department of Motor Vehicles strongly warns against it. Open heeled shoes can slip off and wedge under the accelerator or brake pedal.
