Have you changed your passwords lately? How to pick a memorable one...


You may have heard a long password consisting of jumbled letters and numbers is the safest...

...but that’s not necessarily true. Those passwords are actually the most likely to be written down somewhere which could put you at risk. If your password is an actual word – that’s another bad idea. Hacking programs go through every word in the dictionary in every language. Here are a few good choices for choosing a strong password that’s easy to remember:

• Choose 3 random words and string them together. You may need to add some numbers – just pick some that are NOT your birth year.

• Compose a short sentence that will be easy for you to remember – and use the first letter of each word. For example, my best friend owes me money. That would be MBFOMM.

Longer passwords are much harder for programs to crack. Once you choose one, double or triple it.
