It’s just bad manners to arrive late for something – but it happens to the best of us...
You can minimize the damages if you handle it right. The best approach is to apologize right away for inconveniencing the person – and then launch right into the topic at hand and make up for lost time. People are most annoyed by lateness within the first few minutes of your arrival. In most cases, it will just make matters worse if you drag it out with a boring list of excuses explaining your delay. Ignoring it or playing dumb is not a good approach either. You do need to address it briefly, or you’ll come across as inconsiderate.
