Is your pet too pudgy?
We love our pets, a little too much it seems. Giving them treats or people food can lead to big problems for them. Obesity is just as dangerous for pets as it is for people – and some tough love could be in order if your pet is fat. Give your best friend a good long look – head on. In most breeds, a healthy dog or cat should have a slight narrowing at the waist. If their body contour is totally straight – that pet is probably overweight.
Another test is to press lightly on the skin. You should be able to feel the back bone and ribs. If you can’t, talk to your vet and consider putting that pudgy pet on a diet if you want them to be around for a long time.
