Flash Mobs are sweeping through malls everywhere – and crooks are catching on...
Even if you haven’t witnessed a Flash Mob in real life – you’ve probably seen one on YouTube or the news. A mob of well-intentioned singers or dancers organize a surprise performance in a terminal, store or mall. If you happen to see one forming around you – hold onto your purses and watch your wallets!
Unfortunately there’s a new crime trend sweeping the malls too – it’s a Flash Rob. They’re organized through social media and take the popular Flash Mob idea to a criminal level. A horde of not so well-intentioned people swarm a store or mall, grabbing everything they can, then make a run for it. Retail personnel and patrons are caught off guard and overwhelmed by the mob.
Law enforcement is onto the new trend and they’re trying to monitor any mob organization on sites like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
