Researchers at Purdue University discovered that people who get a lot of calcium and vitamin D in the morning lost a lot more weight than those who don’t. Calcium stimulates enzymes that melt fat - and vitamin D enhances calorie burn. That one-two punch in the morning speeds up our metabolism and reduces the craving for fattier foods later in the day. Look for cereal, yogurt and orange juice fortified with calcium and vitamin D, and don’t forget the fat-free milk.
