Death rates spike on certain days – and you could be at risk...
Everyone loves payday - and that’s one reason death rates tend to spike right around that time. According to a study published in the Journal of Public Economics, getting paid tends to draw people out of the house and into hazardous situations. The study found alcohol and substance abuse spiked on the first of the month and for a few days after.
Law enforcement is even onto the hazards of payday – many forces enhance patrols for drunk drivers and other crimes around the 1st and 15th of each month.
