If the front end of your car is shiny – you might want to slow down...
Some vehicles are more “visible” to a radar gun than others. A truck or SUV is a bigger target than a little sports car – and the front end of your car can even make a difference. Extra chrome trim on there could make you an easier target. That shiny vertical grill on a semi-truck can reflect a radar beam back to the cop from as far as a mile away.
If you’re tempted to invest in one of those license plate covers or sprays that claim to reduce your radar reflective image – don’t bother. According to Radar Roy of RadarDetector.org – and a retired cop - they don’t really work and can even result in a separate fine.
