Most of us have humidity settings on our refrigerator drawers – and they can really make a big difference.
The setting is typically a small plastic switch that can be adjusted to low or high. Low humidity just opens a plastic vent in the drawer while high closes it. What you put in those drawers will last a lot longer if you get your settings right.
It’s a good idea to keep your leafy greens like spinach, arugula, lettuce and basil in the high humidity drawer. Your carrots, broccoli and Brussels sprouts will be happier in there too.
Make room in the low humidity drawer for produce like apples, grapes, mushrooms and avocados. Your tomatoes, lemons, limes and oranges can go in there too, although they prefer medium humidity.
