Showering with your eyes closed can boost your brain power.
Your other senses will get a real workout if you can make it through the whole wash, shampoo and shave routine without peeking. Get a mental workout with some other daily routines:
• Don’t just brush your teeth with the opposite hand – use it for the whole routine. Turn on the tap, open the toothpaste, brush and rinse in reverse.
• Switch up your morning routine. Start by getting out of bed on the opposite side. Then switch up the order of your usual tasks like getting dressed, eating breakfast, walking the dog or checking your mail.
• Turn something upside down. It can be a favorite photo, a clock or a calendar. Your brain will get a little surge of action when you consider the alternate view.
• Don’t just take an alternate route to work or home – open the window. Pay close attention to new sights, sounds and smells.
• When you get to where you’re going, park in a different spot. You’ll give your brain a boost twice with that one.
