It’s spring and the ants are ready to party – at your house.
Reader’s Digest has a few tips at keeping them out and off of your stuff:
• A roll of masking tape works wonders. Construct a sticky barrier at door jams, windowsills or around your counter and they’ll turn around.
• If you don’t have kids or pets, boric acid in cracks and crevices will keep ants from entering there.
• If you do have kids or pets, break out the sidewalk chalk. Draw some do not enter lines around the entrances to your house and sprinkle crushed chalk in other spots to keep ants away.
• Create a barrier of flour on pantry shelves where you spot ants. They don’t like to march across that. Salt works too.
• Cloves and cinnamon repel ants. Place some in your pantry or cupboards and enjoy the aroma each time you open them.
• Ants don’t like lemons either. You can squirt lemon juice on thresholds and sills and leave some peels near pet food bowls or the cookie jar.
• If you spot an ant colony, it’s time for some fire in the hole. Pour some cayenne pepper in there.
