Every culture has a way to tell baby boys and girls apart. It’s pretty much pink and blue here – but it wasn’t always that way. Thanks to nursery rhymes, blue has been associated with baby boys for a long time – but according to cultural historian Jo Paoletti, girls really didn’t have a color until much later. It wasn’t until the late 1950’s and early 60s that pink and blue baby clothes were designated for boys or girls.
