If you’re tempted to clean your windows on the next beautiful day – don’t...

Spring is just around the corner – and those windows are probably due for a thorough washing...

The best day to do that is actually not a sunny day. Save that job for a cloudy day because the sunshine will dry the cleaning solution before you can polish the glass. Here are a few more tips from TLC to do the job right:

• Wash one side of the window with horizontal strokes and the other side with vertical strokes so you can tell which side of the windows have a streak.

• You can eliminate small scratches on the glass by polishing the area with toothpaste.

• Have a toothbrush handy too – it’s the perfect tool for grimy edges and corners.

• A clean blackboard eraser is another great gadget to remove streaks and give freshly washed windows a bright shine.

You’ve probably heard that it’s a good idea to clean your windows with crumpled newspaper. It’s lint-free, disposable, a lot cheaper than paper towels – and leaves an invisible, dirt-resistant film on the glass.
