How long should you really brush your teeth for?

If you brush your teeth for two full minutes – that might not be enough...

Tom McGuire, author of “Healthy Teeth – Healthy Body,” says even though most dentists recommend brushing for two minutes in the morning and again at night – some of us need to brush longer. He says if you have tiny spaces between your teeth, you should be brushing for up to SIX minutes!

Dr. McGuire says we’re not flossing right either. People who have areas in the mouth in which food gets trapped should floss after each meal – AND after they brush. He recommends we keep containers of floss everywhere – in a coat pocket, glove compartment, your bag, your desk and even where you watch TV. And that should be WHITE floss – colored floss makes it harder to see if your gums are bleeding.
