If you’re going to play Frisbee - lose the flip-flops!

Footwear doesn’t get much easier than flip-flops - and they’ve come a long way over the past several thousands of years...

The oldest surviving pair that we know of are on display in the British Museum. They are circa 1,500 B.C. and are made from papyrus leaves - but there are depictions of flip-flops on Egyptian tombs and temples dating back as far as 4,000 B.C.

While some modern day flip-flops do have some advantages, the American Podiatric Association has some do’s and don’ts for our favorite footwear.

* Do invest in a good pair made of soft leather with some support. They should bend at the ball, not in the middle.

* Don’t wear your flip-flops while doing yard work, playing sports or walking long distances. Foot injuries resulting from flip-flops can be more serious than you might think.

You’ll also want to avoid wearing flip-flops in busy, public spaces. If you do, your feet will be pretty much covered in whatever lurks on the ground. Be sure to wash your feet as soon as you get home.
