Drunken Ears

Red wine might be good for your heart but it's bad for your Ears.
The more people drink the louder they get. There is a reason we might have to pump up the volume after a few. Studies by ear, nose and throat experts have found that after drinking two or more alcoholic beverages, the membranes in our ears begin to constrict and interferes with our hearing.

While moderate alcohol hearing loss is temporary, it can last up to 16 hours. Previous studies have found that steady or heavy drinkers do suffer from permanent hearing loss due to damage to the hearing region of the brain.

iWatch

Will you be sporting an iWatch anytime soon?
If you like iStuff, you probably can’t wait for the next big thing - the iWatch. According to tech insiders at Bloomberg, we will be wrapping that iWatch around our wrists eventually. When we do, rumor has it that we’ll be sporting a 1.5 inch flexible touchscreen which will be shockproof and waterproof. Siri will be on hand to help us dictate messages and we’ll be able to check our tweets, weather and other data along with the time.

So what time will the iWatch be available? While there has been precious little leaking on the specs, price or release dates, iWatchers suggest we set our alarm for the first quarter of 2014.

Lady In Red

What color shirt is SHE wearing? The next time you see a woman in red - go ahead and assume she’s more fertile than her friend in black. A recent study looked at women ages 18 to 47 and scientifically analyzed what was underneath the color they were wearing. They determined that the women wearing red or pink were three times more likely to be at the peak of their fertility cycle than those in other colors.

The study also reinforced previous theories that we associate the color red with love and passion. Men rate pictures of women in red as more attractive and that many women subconsciously feel more attractive and dress more provocatively during peak fertility - and may choose red or pink to draw more attention to themselves.

No ZIP code

When the cashier asks for your ZIP code - just say no.
The next time a cashier asks for your ZIP Code you may want to decline providing that information - especially if you hate junk mail. Businesses often use ZIP Code information to track down your home address. They sell that to a direct-mail company who would love to send you stuff.

The next time you're asked to provide your ZIP Code go ahead and ask why they need it. According to attorney Matt Valdes, asking for a zip code infringes upon consumer rights. He says people just give it up thinking that the store needs it to confirm and protect their credit card -, but in reality it’s for their own marketing.

Skip the Snooze

Did you hit the snooze button this morning?
Waking up naturally is the best way to do it. While that’s not possible for a lot of us, one jolting alarm is bad enough. Don’t compound the problem by using the snooze button. While that extra ten minutes can seem like paradise at the moment, it can actually make you feel much worse later in the day. The first time we wake up, our bodies start to prep to get things going. One swift hit to the snooze button sends us back to the pillow and mixed signals to the body and brain. That ten minutes is fragmented sleep and is counter productive and can increase daytime impairment.

If not getting up is your favorite time of the day, skip the snooze button and set an earlier alarm. 90 minutes is best. That’s the length of a natural sleep cycle and will be a more productive snooze than the standard ten minutes.
