It’s about time. Losing your luggage on a flight could soon be a thing of the past...
Airbus has developed a smart suitcase that can’t get lost. It’s called the Bag2Go and it has a GPS satellite tracker and bar code embedded on it. You’ll need a smartphone to go with that smart luggage. Travelers will send details of their flight to the airline in return for the barcode. Once attached to your bag, it will be easy to trace through your phone if it winds up on the wrong aircraft. You can even check to be sure it’s on the plane before takeoff and alert the crew if it’s not. While they may not delay the flight for your lost luggage, theoretically, your Bag2Go will be swiftly re-routed to your destination.
The new smart luggage will have some other features too, including a built in scale and an alert if someone tries to tamper with it. The Bag2Go suitcase is still in development and not quite ready to take flight.
