Bedtime Gadget

Good news for techies: You can take your gadget to bed - IF you do this.
Sleep experts have been warning us to ditch our gadgets before bedtime, blaming LED light for disrupted sleep. If you can’t bear to bed down without that smartphone or tablet, a new study says a few adjustments can solve that problem.

Researchers at the Mayo clinic say turning the screen brightness setting down and then keeping that gadget at least 12 inches from your face will prevent the glow from interfering with a good night’s sleep. If you use an iPad 3 in bed, make that distance 14 inches. They have the brightest display of all the gadgets tested.

Celebrate June!

Now that we’re into the month of June - lets start shopping!
June is here - let’s celebrate with some Champagne. Every month has some good buys and June is on sale now. Here are the best things to buy this month:

* Champagne: The stores are stocked for weddings and graduations and all that bubbly has got to go.

* Gym memberships: Most gyms offer rock-bottom memberships in June to get you inside while everyone else is headed outdoors.

* Tools: You can thank Dad for Father’s Day sales on just about every tool in the box.

* Caribbean vacation: If you’re the adventurous type, you can get a great deal as hurricane season kicks in.

If you’re in the market for a new laptop or Mac, don’t splurge yet. Wait another month or so when the back-to-school specials start to kick in.

Famous Jobs

Justin Timberlake is hiring - but you may need to relocate for that job.
If you’d like to work for someone famous - a few big names are hiring. Here are some job openings with the benefit of bragging rights:

* Jessica Alba needs a human resource manager for her Los Angeles-based nontoxic family products company called Honest.

* Martha Stewart needs lots of help. She’s posted ten new jobs on her website, including sales, marketing, art and editorial.

* Will Ferrell needs a Ruby Rails engineer for his FunnyOrDie.com website. If you don’t know what a Ruby Rails engineer is, you’re not qualified.

* Justin Timberlake needs a few sales managers and a marketing intern for MySpace, which he bought in 2011. You’ll need to relocate though - to Berlin, Germany.

* Sammy Hagar wants you - to serve his Tequila at his Lake Tahoe Cabo Wabo.

* Ellen DeGeneres needs an intern. To apply, just provide your personal story in 1,500 character or less.

* Dr. Dre has more than 60 job openings in New York, LA, London, Ireland and China. His Beats line of headphones and sound systems need help with HR, legal, marketing and more.

Low-T

Is there really a Low-T epidemic?
If you’re a guy and you’re tempted to get tested for Low-T, you’re not alone. Thanks to a barrage of advertising for drugs to treat low testosterone, more men are blaming their low libido on Low-T. According to Dr. Marvin Lipman, a specialist in endocrinology, men should take their time before testing for Low-T. He says the tests are notoriously inaccurate and that lack of libido can be attributed to lots of things, including stress, depression, workload and even changed feelings towards your partner.

If you do want to be tested for Low-T, Dr. Lipman says the test should be done in the morning, when testosterone levels are highest. They should also be done more than once, at the same lab, since levels can vary from day to day and from lab to lab.

Remember My Name

Is your name job-friendly?
Congratulations Michael and Mary, you may be getting a promotion. According to a recent study from New York University, those of us with simple, easy-to-pronounce names like Tom, Jane, Linda or John have a professional edge. Names that are easier to recognize and say are more likely to be used and remembered which can make all the difference.

While there’s not much we can do about an unusual or difficult last name, you may want to consider a professional nickname or aka if your first name is too much work.
