How should your children brush their teeth? Gangnam Style!

Most young children don’t do a very effective job brushing their teeth...

Jim Williams, from Brighton Institute of Modern Music and Tina Tanna, dental expert with Aquafresh, have come up with the ultimate dental musical formula for kids – brushing Gangnam Style.

Jim explains: A song with eight bars of music, followed by another two sets of four bars can encourage brushing. The song must also include a double chorus and middle bridging section, known as a double eight. Tina adds that children must brush at least 35 times on each side, using seven strokes in five areas for healthy teeth and gums.

Based on this formula, Jim and Tina compiled a list of popular songs for kids to brush to – and Gangnam Style is number one on the brushing chart. Also in the top ten are Rihanna’s Diamond, Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To know, Olly Murs’ Troublemaker, Wiley’s Heatwave and Call My Name by Cheryl Cole.
