Have you ever had a crippling foot cramp? How to stop it in it tracks...

You may be working out, taking a stroll or trying on shoes when suddenly, a crippling foot cramp stops you in your tracks...

They can even wake you from a sound sleep. They painful muscle contractions could be triggered by dehydration, diet or even anxiety – and figuring out what sets them off might help you avoid them in the future. However, while you’re in the grips of a foot cramp, stopping it is probably your top priority. When hopping around on your cramped foot doesn’t work, try one of these acupressure tricks. The following spots coincide with your feet:

• The spot between your upper lip and nose
• The base of your calf muscle, same leg as the cramp
• The spot between your big and second toe on the top of your cramped foot

Choose one of these spots and apply firm pressure with your thumb for a full minute and release. If the cramp is still there, stretch it out. With your leg extended, point your toes and then flex your foot straight up. Continue this decramping stretch for another full minute.
