Setting the Table

Most of us know how to set a table – but where should that napkin go?

If you want to set a table right – put the napkin on the left. Ideally, it should be to the left of the forks – but if there’s not enough room there, consider putting it ON the plate. It’s nicer for the guests to be able to put that napkin on their lap without having to slide it out from under the utensils. If you’re setting bread and butter plates – they go to the left of the dinner plate ABOVE the forks.

So what about those glasses? They go above the plate to the right – with the water glass closest to the middle if you’re serving wine.
