Saving Heat

You can reduce heat loss in your home this winter by 40%!

If you’d like to keep up to 40% MORE heat in your house this winter – consider some plastic. Energy saving window coating has come a long way. We don’t have to deal with saggy sheets of plastic held up with duct tape anymore. Most home improvement stores now carry a clear plastic film treated with an invisible layer of metallic oxide that helps keep that warm air in. It’s self-adhesive and can be left up year round.

You’ll also want to locate other drafts. A good method for finding them is to light a stick of incense – hold it near potential draft spots such as attic doors, plumbing and lighting fixtures and outlets. If the smoke goes sideways – you’ve got a gap to plug.
