NUTS!

Those squirrels are hoarding nuts with good reason – they’re super nutritious!

It seems we should all be packing our cheeks with nuts! It’s peak nut season so they’re less expensive now – and they’re so good for us. The FDA recommends almonds and pistachios as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol – but check out some other nutty nutrition:

• Walnuts are a good source of omega 3.

• Brazil nuts and hazelnuts are packed with protein.

• Pecans have potassium, zinc and iron.

Experts agree, eating tree nuts is a great way for us to improve our nutrient intake – and people who eat them regularly score much higher on overall diet quality.
