Echo Boomers

Chances are – you’ve got an Echo Boomer in your life...

How many Echo Boomers do you know? Most likely quite a few. Also known as Millennials, they were born between 1982 and 2000. Your kids, grandkids, colleagues or service providers probably fall into this generation – and we all need to get along. Echo Boomers have different priorities and attitudes than Baby Boomers and Generation Xers. In general, they’re closer to their parents and don’t rebel as much. They’ve got higher self-esteem – and shorter attention spans. Many Echo Boomers expect to start at the top – and move much faster than previous generations – often jumping from job to job or demanding promotions and raises.

So what’s a non-Echo Boomer to do with that? Learn a little and teach a lot. The challenge for older generations is to convince the Millennials that the fastest solution is not always the best one. Members of this generation are usually willing to adapt if they understand the benefits – and some of their strategies DO have merit – so keep an open mind or get out of the way.
