What have you read today?
A new study is suggesting we all need to be reading, every day, at every age. Researchers looked at the brains of people who flexed theirs daily with activities such as reading, writing and crossword puzzles and found significant mental benefits. Cognitive decline with age was reduced and memory was much stronger. Those benefits start to sink in at an early age and can last a lifetime for regular readers and writers.
According to author of the study Dr. Robert Wilson, of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, we shouldn't underestimate the effects of everyday activities like reading and writing on ourselves, our children and our parents and grandparents. Put down the device and pick up a book.
