It’s hard to resist taking a photo of a beautiful sunset...
Sunsets are one of the most photographed phenomenons on the planet and there’s an art to capturing their beauty and mystique. Darin Rogers, freelance photographer and author of “Capturing the Journey” has these tips:
* Look Behind You: The sun may be setting in front of you but those clouds behind you may be even more visually interesting.
* Place Something In The Foreground: It may be the most beautiful sunset in the world but you’ll need some foreground elements to give it some perspective and balance.
* Leading Lines: Make use of any elements between you and the sunset that lead your eye to the subject.
* Look For Silhouettes: Sunset is prime time for these visual gems.
Above all, Derin says to look for the story. Sunsets are beautiful - but what else is happening? If something else is going on around you, try incorporating that into your shot and give your viewers something to wonder or think about.
