Salad Order

Is it better to eat your salad before or after the main course?

Americans are used to being served salad BEFORE the main course. In some countries, it’s severed after the meal. So which is better? There are benefits to both.

Eating a salad before the meal can help reduce your saturated fat intake, especially if the main course is meat. Having salad first can take the edge off of your hunger too. If you’d really like to benefit, eat the salad before ORDERING your meal.

Eating your salad AFTER the main course has a different effect. Meat takes longer to digest than salad, and the meat slows down the effect of the carbohydrates in the salad. It may help you feel full for longer.
