Belly Fat

Belly fat is bad – even for skinny people!

You’ve probably heard that apple-shaped people should be worried about the extra fat around their middle. But what about carrot-shaped people? New research from the Mayo Clinic says those skinnier people are not off the hook. It turns out even some thinner people still wind up with excess weight around their middle.

There’s one way to find out for sure – grab a tape measure. You’ll need to measure at a very specific part of the body – just above the top of the hip bones. For men, a waist circumference of 40 inches or more is a risk factor for heart health. For women, 35 inches or more puts you into the danger zone.
