Over Thinking

If you have trouble making decisions – you could be overthinking things...

Thinking things through is good. Overthinking them - bad. If decision making slows you down, you’re not alone. Studies have found that 52% of us think too much, which can lead to worry, stress and wasted time. Here are a few tricks to thinking less:

• Get a second opinion. As soon as you start to wonder – go ahead and ask someone. It can speed things up drastically, whether it’s which shoes to buy, or something more important. Chances are there is someone nearby who can give you their unbiased opinion.

• Find a distraction. When you start to dwell on a decision – do something else for a while and go back to it. Detaching can stave off obsession.

• Write some notes – and post them where you’ll see them. A handwritten stop sign strategically placed on your desk or bathroom mirror can be a valuable reminder to think less and act more.
