Picking Pomegranates

October is here, peak season for pumpkins and... pomegranates!

It's pomegranate season, and you really should pick a few up. Pomegranate seeds are great on their own, but can also dress up salad, or your entree, or even your desert. They're good for your brain, your teeth, your arteries, and can even lower cholesterol.

In order to pick the best pomegranate, pick one with a bright, deep red hue that's firm and shiny. Avoid any with indentations or wrinkly spots. And the bigger, the better. Pick a few up and choose the heaviest, that one will have more of the juicy sweet seeds inside which is the part you eat.
