Newly Single?

If you're newly single, chances are dating has changed a bit since you've been out there...

If you're newly single, there's a good chance things have changed a bit on the dating scene. Here's a refresher course with some of the old and new dating rules:

Online:

Avoid being that kid in a candy store. If you've met a nice sincere person, focus on that. It's easy to get distracted by lots of attention, and it can ruin your chances with the one that's right for you.

Don't respond to someone you're not interested in. That should be enough to get the point across. And that works both ways, if someone does not respond to you, let it go. On the other hand, once you've opened up the lines of communication, it's rude to just disappear. Be honest and let the other person know you're moving on or have met someone else.

When it's time to meet, make it a really short date. Opt for a coffee or lunch break get together. You can always make a date longer, but it can be really difficult to cut one short if it's not what you expected.

Face to face:

Don't act distracted during a date. Turn OFF the cell phone, and give the other person your full attention.

Skip the therapy session. Your date should be fun. Avoid subjects like your ex or bad relationships. And you can save the troubled childhood for later.
