Breakup Survival

Breaking up is hard to do, but is there an up side?

Let's face it, breakups can be bad, really bad. But they're not necessarily negative. Some relationships are just plain unproductive, and ending them is actually a good thing. When your heart is broken, you're in pain and can't always see the positives. For instance, you're not locked into that broken situation any more, and you have an opportunity to reclaim or rebuild your own identity. But it's up to you to act on that, and it can be difficult, especially without that person who used to be your best friend.

You'll need support and advice, but there is a difference between those. If lonleiness sets in, fight it. Seek SUPPORT from positive people to detach from your own misery for a while. Ask them to point out some of the positives you might not be seeing yet, and then move on to another subject. Dwelling on it will defeat the purpose, and drain your support system. If depression is taking over, go ahead and seek medical ADVICE before it gets out of hand.
