Are you suffering from frostnip? What it is and how to treat it...

Cold weather can do some real damage to your sensitive skin.

If your fingers, ears or nose get numb or tingly, you’re experiencing frostnip and you need to treat that with care. Frostnip is the first stage of frostbite. It doesn’t lead to permanent tissue damage like frostbite - but you need to be careful warming up that delicate skin.

It’s important to keep those chilled body parts away from real heat. Holding them near a hot space heater, radiator, roaring fire or under hot water is traumatic and can result in nerve damage. It’s best to warm frostnipped hands gradually. Your armpits are just right for the job. It’s okay to use warm water as well. Once the hands are warm and dry, use those to warm nipped ears and noses.
