Should nail salons be kid-free?

Some restaurants have caused a stir by going kid-free and nail salons may be next.

While little girls may LOVE to get their nails done, there are a few reasons you might want to do that at home. Products used in nail salons can be harsh and we should keep vulnerable children and toddlers away from these chemicals, some of which have been linked to birth defects, asthma and other chronic health conditions.

Some consumers have chimed in on the topic too, opting for kid-free salons. Relaxing manicures and spa treatments lose some of their appeal when excited little girls enter the picture. Parent Coach Meghan Leahy agrees. She says not only do mothers deserve that time alone to get their own nails done in a salon, but when it comes to little girls, you don't need strangers and salons to connect. Set up a mini-salon at home with kid-friendly products and let the nail bonding begin.
