A lot of us double up on our email address and username for any given account - and that’s a really bad idea.
While using your email address to sign into accounts is convenient and easy to remember, it could increase the risk that your accounts will be hacked.
Jeff Fox, technology editor at Consumer Reports says the best way to protect yourself is to use something other than your e-mail address as your ID for bank accounts and other online accounts that store your birth date, Social Security number, and other sensitive information. Also, don't use an identical ID for multiple accounts.
