What could be good about the infamous polar vortex?

Another polar vortex is looming and slated to strike the Midwest and the Northeast this week.

That’s really bad news - for stink bugs. In a recent experiment conducted at Virginia Tech, 95 percent of the stink bugs under observation were killed by the recent cold arctic blasts. These beetles regularly stink up the mid-Atlantic states – but have been found in 40 states all together, even in Hawaii. Experts say thanks to this polar vortex laden winter, we’re likely not to see and smell nearly as many stink bugs in the warmer months.
