That’s one of the most common decorating mistakes people make. Art looks better when hung lower – with the center at eye level or slightly below. The average eye level is between 60 and 66 inches from the floor. If you are hanging something over a sofa, table or bed, it should be no more than 9 to 12 inches above the furniture, depending on the piece.
If you’re hanging a grouping of art – make sure to arrange it on the floor first. Determine where the center of your pattern will be. You’re mission will be to get that center at eye level on the wall.
