Are you one of your doctor’s favorite patients?
Not if you do any of these things. AARP has put together a list of patient behavior that drive’s doctors crazy. Good patient’s don’t:
• Get there late. It can mess up the schedule for the rest of the day.
• Ask for favors. Hoarding samples or asking office staff to put money in the meter isn’t nice.
• Ignore instructions. Not following doctor’s order with prescriptions makes your case much harder.
• Self diagnose. It’s okay to ask questions about tests and protocol, but don’t assume you know better.
• Ask questions too late. Come prepared with your top five questions and give your doctor time to answer them. If you have a lot of questions or really feel you’ll need extra time, let the office know when you’re making your appointment.
