The next time you and your child go out to eat – try not using your cell phone.
A recent study watched random parents or caregivers with their children in fast food restaurants. 55 caregivers, parents, guardians and grandparents, were observed. 40 of them used their cell phone during the meal. The majority were not talking but swiping and typing. Several of them used the phone through the entire meal. The observers also noted that the more absorbed phone users reacted more harshly to any bids for attention from the child.
The next time you and your child are in a fast food restaurant, you might have more fun counting people on their cell phones together than getting lost in your own.
