Go ahead - turn your computer all the way off.
You may have heard that it’s better to put your computer in sleep or standby mode, rather than powering up each time. While it is more convenient, experts say if you’ll be away from your computer for more than an hour – shut her down. When the computer is on standby, the memory is still fully functioning. That can result in overheating and damage and significantly reduce the lifespan of your computer.
Contrary to some advice out there, turning the system on and off won’t do any damage. Newer computers are designed to handle about 20 on/off cycles per day, every day, for seven years.
