Swimming is bad for your teeth!

The next time you go for a swim - take your toothbrush...

Swimming in chlorinated pools can be hard on your teeth and frequent swimmers should always brush after swimming. Here are some other surprising dental dangers:

* Diet soda: It’s got citric and phosphoric acid which is hard on your enamel. It’s a good idea to drink some water after a diet soda - and avoid brushing for at least an hour to prevent further damage.

* Birth control pills: They can increase the risk of periodontal disease. Women taking birth control should have their teeth cleaned every three months.

* Your toothbrush: If it’s not soft, it’s too abrasive. Medium and hard brushes can cause the gums to recede.
