The sigh - it’s the universal language of disappointment, sadness or frustration...There’s a reason we do it and it’s all about self help. When we sigh, we’re actually regulating our breathing under stress. That stall in our breathing pattern can actually provide some mild relief. A sigh is usually a subconscious move and can act like a mental reset button while frustration is building. A hefty sigh is also an effective way at communicating a feeling of sadness or disapproval to others without having to say a word.
