Weeding Workout


Weeding the garden may be a chore – but look at the bright side....


If you dread weeding the garden – consider the benefits. James A. Peterson, author of “Legends of Fitness,” tells is why gardening is a great alternative to the gym:




• If you spend an hour weeding, you’ve burned about 360 calories.

• Digging is a great way to tone muscles in the arms and shoulders. Try to switch off arms from time to time.

• The standing, stooping and kneeling that goes along with gardening burns about 300 calories per hour.

If you’d like to burn even more calories – consider a tilling session. That burns over 400 calories per hour.
